Wreck Depth: 50-70 feet (15-22 meters)
Since this is a relatively young wreck it is not overgrown with corals yet.
The `Carib Ghost` is one of the popular wrecks around St. Maarten. This 200ft (60m) cargo ship (of the `Roll on Roll off` type) sank in 1996, just outside Great Bay, Philipsburg. The `Carib Ghost` sank in an upright position and is almost fully intact.
Because the `Carib Ghost` sank on a sand plateau, there is usually an abundance of fish around the wreck. There are some reef balls placed around the wreck as well, to attract additional life. During a dive on `Carib Ghost`, you can see: various schools of fish, large stingrays, eagle ray, barracuda, spiny lobster, turtle, angelfish, moray eel, shark, flounders, etc.
And if it’s your LUCKY day: dolphins.
