PADI Assistant Instructor The first level of real Scuba Instruction. PADI Assistant Instructor, some advantages over a PADI Divemaster. It allows PADI Divemasters to gain additional experience and knowledge beyond their Divemaster level and participate more actively in PADI classes. PADI AI's may teach three specialties out-of-the-box, may conduct classroom (knowledge development) sessions and can also teach snorkeling and Discover Scuba Diving in confined water. As an assistant during the PADI Open Water Course Assistant Instructors also may evaluate some of the Dive Flexible skills, which means PADI Assistant Instructors are quickly recognised as being the preffered assistant in these courses. Prep in your own comfort Most of the theory can be prepped in your own home. Although your Course Director will complete some classroom sessions with you, the recent changes in the Instructor Development Course allow for a lot of work to be done at home. Therefore during the process itself there will be a lot of time to be spend in the water and that's where it counts, right? Special workshops At the Caribbean Dive College we believe in creating the perfect assistant, rather than a person who barely made a minimum. Although standards require us to certify you if you make the bare minimum, we will always provide you with enough information, practise and guidance to become a real good PADI Assistant Instructor. And to prove this, we will allow our candidates to help us with our courses after completion of the program to get real life experience. We wouldn't do that if we weren't confident you could do a good job!

Team teach some classes After certification as a PADI Assistant Instructor you will be able to teach the PADI PPB Course, the PADI Project A.W.A.R.E. and the PADI Project A.W.A.R.E. Coral Reef Conservation Course. We have found in the past that a lot of newly certified instructors and PADI Assistant Instructors are not really ready to do so yet. Although this is very normal (first time is always difficult even after great preparation) we understand this is not a very comfortable feeling. The good news is that our instructors are prepared to team teach with you. After you find your first specialty candidate you can come over and teach this course yourself. One of our instructors will be your assistant during this course to help you cement your foundation. And we can promise you the same for knowledge development.
