The PADI Divemaster Program

What is PADI Divemaster?

Become a PADI Divemaster. The PADI Divemaster Crewpack is shown here. Tough question with many possible answers. Most common answers include:

  • Dive leader
  • Dive professional
  • A frequent diver
  • Professional vacationer
  • Instructional Assistant
  • To be honest, the PADI Divemaster is a person with many qualities and responsibilities. A successful PADI Divemaster is a diver with a broad knowledge, exceptional rescue and rescue diving skills, a pleasant person, a people person, a dedicated and friendly person. Someone who knows their way around the dive sites and is knowledgable about local marine life and dive procedures and can give flawless briefings about these. Someone who people like to come back to for more diving, more advice, more equipment or just more talking about diving.

    The PADI Divemaster Course

After completing your PADI Rescue Diver Course and getting certified as such you are immediately able to enroll in your PADI Divemaster Course. During the course you will develop a vast knowledge base and exceptional diving skills. You'll practise rescue scenario's and diving stresses as you may encounter them in real diving life (seldomly, but you need to be prepped nevertheless) You will also assist in educational processes and of course you're going to apply all you learn during the course in a realistic (but still under the direction of your instructors) environment.

    The CDC/PADI Divemaster Course

Since a PADI Divemaster is supposed to be a little bit of a `Jack of all trades` in the Diving world, Course Director does not believe in a single mentor per Divemaster Candidate.
A Candidate should always get in contact with multiple Instructors and pick up bits and pieces from all of them to be able to discuss with Course Director and make up their own mind about what is done and what is not done. Except from PADI standards and most dive theory, almost everything is open for discussion and can be interpreted in several ways. This makes you unique!

Minimum Level of Instructor: PADI IDC Staff

You will not receive education from OWSI (regular) Dive Instructors. Although you would maybe work with freelance OWSI's at CDC during your PADI Divemaster Course, regular Instructors are not allowed to actively participate in the PADI Divemaster Program as taught by the Caribbean College of Diving.
There is no exception. The program is overseen and mentored by a PADI Course Director and further carried out by him and PADI IDC Staff Instructors. You will get the best of the best.

This is unique and unmatched in the Caribbean.
