PADI Wreck Diver Some objects speak more than a thousand bubbles. Without any doubt, wrecks are among the list of those objects. All over the world you will be able to find these marvells of history on the bottom of the sea. And while some of them are in water way too deep... other's are there just waiting to be explored by you. Here around st. Maarten we have a couple of them for you to enjoy. The most famous one is probably the HMS Proselyte, a Dutch/English battleship that ran into the reef and sank on the night of September 7, 1801. Ancient cannons and anchors can still be seen, although the ship self, made of wood, obviously vanished over time. Our wreck diving specialty is taught on a spot that gives us the oppertunity to actually penetrate a wreck. This is done in a safe way and never away from visible daylight. After your instructor has discussed wreck dive theory with you and you both have agreed upon a dive plan, you will be doing a series of dives, ultimately leading up to wreck penetration.

The wreck specialty makes you aware of the hazards and historical values of the wrecks you can find in (coastal) waters worldwide and then it teaches you how to explore those wrecks in a safe, comfortable and non destructive way.
