Porpoise - St. Maarten - Home of an octopus

Wreck
Depth: 80-90 feet (25-28 meters)

'The Porpoise' is one of the deeper wreck dives around St. Maarten. The shallowest part of the wreck lies around 55 feet (17m) with the deepest area a little over 90 feet (28m).
'The Porpoise' was a tug boat that was used around St. Maarten and its neighboring islands for many years. The tug boat has been out of use, since Hurricane Luis in 1995, until they decided to clean up and sink the vessel. Now 'The Porpoise' is home to a variety of fish, large stingrays and an attraction for adventurous divers.
On this dive you can see: Large stingrays, various schools of fish, eagle ray, barracuda, spiny lobster, angelfish, porcupine fish, flounders, trumpet fish etc.

And if it’s your LUCKY day: dolphins

For the adventurous divers, 'The Porpoise' offers a couple nice 'swim thru’s'. And if you want to explore a bit more of the inside of the wreck, you can contact us for a wreck dive or a wreck diving course.
